Dameshe began studying Middle Eastern Dance in 1997 at Serena Studios. Her first performance was as a contestant in the Miss Black World (NY State) competition in 1997, where she placed 3rd runner up. Such a positive response to her performance (choreographed by Serena) inspired her to pursue the dance further. She went on to study with other luminaries in the New York Middle Eastern dance community including Azza, Morocco, Samara, Layla and Sira and Ranya. She has also taken intensive workshops with Yousry Shariff, Raqia Hassan, Elena Lentini and ZaZa Hassan.

Dameshe decided to expand her dance vocabulary and began intensive private training in Hindi Film movement with Seema Iyer. This challenging style of dance is a blend of classical Indian dance with modern elements taken from today’s “Bollywood” films!
